WHAT IS WOMAD?

WOMAD is New Zealand's largest world celebration. WOMAD is a 3-day festival featuring music, art and dance from around the world. WOMAD happens in many countries around the world and in New Zealand/Aotearoa it takes place in one of the most stunning venues in the world - the TSB Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth, Taranaki - Stevie Nicks described it as one of her two most favourite venues.

It's not uncommon to have three generations of one family at WOMAD as it offers something for everyone. From DJs playing loud and late, to a free Kidzone where young ones get creative and are entertained, through to mini seating grandstands for seniors. WOMAD really is clean, green and safe.

WOMAD is not just about incredible music on six stages. There's always plenty of other options as well...... chill in a marquee and sip cider or coffee while watching some of the performers cook their favourite dishes from their homelands, take in an outdoor film or music workshop, enjoy a warm welcome from the local iwi at Te Pae Pae, or pamper yourself at the Village of Wellness.
