HUIA is an award-winning Māori artist whose music carries te reo Māori and ancestral story into contemporary global sound.

Rooted in Ngāti Porou and Te Aitanga-ā-Māhaki whakapapa, her performances weave organic Māori percussion, taonga-inspired textures, sensual vocals and electronic rhythms, moving from ambient soundscapes to drum and bass energy.

Her album Kawakawa, which spent four weeks in the album charts, has been described as “electro with spirit” and draws on rongoā, nature and intergenerational healing.

Singing in te reo Māori, HUIA creates music that reconnects audiences with culture, whenua and whakapapa. Her festival highlights include Splore, Knockengorroch (Scotland), WOMEX (EU) and the Osaka World Expo.
