Yurt Party bring their own brand of groove-based “street party music” from Ōtautahi Christchurch, blending Balkan and Latin rhythms with soaring melodies, dub, reggae and touches of electronica.

What began as a trio playing traditional music from Eastern Europe, Latin America and folk traditions has grown into a six-piece festival powerhouse, with violin, saxophone, guitar, keyboard, bass and drums at the heart of their sound.

Known for tight musicianship and explosive live energy, Yurt Party have built a loyal following through nationwide tours and festival appearances including Woodford Folk Festival, Electric Avenue, Twisted Frequency and CubaDupa.

Their live shows are all about collective joy, movement and getting a crowd together.
