Working together for a Zero Waste future
The Zero Waste philosophy is at the heart of everything we do. Todd Energy and WOMAD are both committed to ensuring this award-winning festival is not only an explosion of international culture, but also a leading example of environmental sustainability.
We strive to make WOMAD an environment that encourages and empowers people to embrace the philosophy of reducing, reusing, recycling and rethinking.
During the festival our Todd Energy Zero Waste stations are manned by a team of friendly volunteer eco-warriors, who will help you compost and recycle as much of your waste as possible. By doing this you enable us to achieve our goal of minimising any waste going to landfill.
In 2018 we recycled and composted a record breaking 90 per cent, or 23,060 kg, of festival waste. 2019 festival stats will be available soon.
Would you like to help?
Each year our festival is made awesome by the hard mahi of hundreds of volunteers. Check out our Volunteer Page (applications open 30 October) if you would like to be involved, and if the Zero Waste initiative interests you, make sure to select that when you apply.
