WOMAD NZ has received a high volume of queries regarding the recent announcements from the Government regarding mandating vaccine certificates to attend major events.
The Government has announced that New Zealanders will need to get vaccinated this month to attend festivals and events over the summer.
While this is a positive development towards allowing our festival to go ahead, we are still awaiting official information from the Government on how this will be managed and what will be required upon entry to the festival site.
We do know that Vaccination certificates or passports will be required to access future events.
WOMAD NZ respects that each individual has the right to choose to be vaccinated or not, but it is becoming clear that if you wish to attend WOMAD NZ 2022, you will need to be vaccinated.

We have been working behind the scenes to be able to answer your questions with the limited information we have so far.
Below are some answers to the most common questions and answers:
Q: I have a camping/glamping ticket - can I return them also?
Q: Do artists, staff, and attendees need to be vaccinated?
A: At this stage, if the Government chooses to mandate vaccinations to attend major events, all onsite attendees will require vaccination.
Q: I have a vaccine exemption. Can I attend?
A: There will be an exemption process to get certification for the small number of people who are unable to get a vaccination for medical reasons. We are awaiting further clarification on this.
Q: Will, my child, need an exemption to attend?
A: Based on information from the COVID-19 website, children under the age of 12 will not be required to show proof of vaccination. We are awaiting further clarification on this.
If the festival is unable to take place on the advertised date of 18 – 20 March 2022 due to government regulations regarding COVID-19, the festival will be postponed to 17 - 19 March 2023.
Anyone who purchases tickets will have the option to roll their 2022 tickets directly over to our 2023 festival or receive a ticket refund (less a reasonable administration booking fee).
